Welcome Note
A message from Zulfiqar Behan Head of the DETRC Karachi.
The Government Divisional
Educational Technology Resource Centre in Qasimabad, Karachi, under the
administrative control of the Directorate of Teacher Training Institutions,
Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, was established in
1992. The primary objective of the center was to provide capacity building and
support for primary school teachers, as well as head teachers/administrators in
the Karachi division.
I assumed the
position of the Head of DETRC Karachi in 2018, facing a significant challenge
as the center had been completely defunct for an extended period. With patience
and consistency, I embarked on the task, and I am pleased to announce that my
dream of organizing the first-ever Educational Conference in the history of
Government Teacher Training Institutions in Sindh is becoming a reality. The
DETRC Karachi 1st Educational Conference aims to instill hope for quality
education in our country.
The
conference's theme, "Education Reshaping the Society," is expected to
benefit educators worldwide. I anticipate that the conference themes will
initiate discussions on content pedagogy, assessment, and leadership skills.
This presents a valuable opportunity for scholars to showcase their research
and practices, facilitating mutual learning and the exchange of ideas to
enhance their respective institutions.
I express my

Abstract
This research study take a look into a study of
the effectiveness of teachers training program for private secondary schools in
Sindh. Technology integration is far behind in Pakistani Schools as a
consequence of ICT deficiency, absence of in-service teachers training. ICT has
tremendous potential to prepare students for the workplaces globally and
improve educational systems, if it’s integrated wisely into a curriculum. ICT
Teacher Training is being sorted out at distinctive levels for the educators to
outfit them with essential most recent information and abilities to make them
great ICT educators by the Government of Pakistan and Education Department; in
this study the relationships between in service ICT teachers training and
changes in teaching behavior will be investigated. This research study take a look into a study
of the effectiveness of ICT teachers training program for private secondary
schools in Sindh to promote Ubiquitous learning among students. The study's
main goals were to investigate the impact of in-service teachers' ICT training
on subject teachers' teaching methodology based on Ubiquitous Learning. Apricot
Education System conducted this study in private schools in Karachi, and 150
teachers were chosen as a target sample using purposive random sampling
following three months of teacher training. The investigation was descriptive
in nature. A questionnaire with 60 items based on a 5 Likert scale was used to
collect data using the survey method. The data was analyzed using the correlation,
regression, and reliability tests. The results of the regression test revealed
that teacher training had a substantial impact on subject teachers' teaching
style based on Ubiquitous Learning. The t- value is 5.079.The data was analyzed
using the correlation, regression, and reliability tests. The results of the
regression test revealed that teacher training had a substantial impact on
subject teachers' teaching style based on Ubiquitous Learning. The t-value is
5.079, and the p-value is.000 less than 0.05. That equals.000. It indicates

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the
effectiveness of educational policies and analyses the issues and challenges
encountered in implementing educational in these institutions. This study's
research design used a mixed method research strategy, combining quantitative
and qualitative data collection and analysis methodologies. This study has
obtained a wide variety of data that can be examined using descriptive
statistics and thematic analysis by combining the survey technique for
quantitative data collection with in-depth interviews for qualitative data
collection. The quantitative study conducts a thorough evaluation of the
information provided by 339 respondents who are affiliated with higher
education institutions. It explores implementation, obstacles, and other facets
of educational policy. The quantitative analysis reveals respondent viewpoints
on subjects including standardized testing, resource limitations, and
vocational education through frequencies, percentages, and descriptive data.
The results support earlier studies and highlight the need forsensible,
flexible strategies that deal with practical issues. Communication, stakeholder
participation, policy flexibility, and alignment with institutional
requirements all stand out as essential components. A critical need arises for
a comprehensive and collaborative approach involving policymakers, academic
leaders, and faculty members to reevaluate and refine existing educational
policies. The government should focus on enhancing collaboration between
stakeholders, such as policymakers, educational administrators, faculty
members, and students, to foster a more coordinated effort toward policy
execution.

How to beat banking education?
Igor Gomes Duarte Gomide dos Santos

Abstract
Term developed by Paulo Freire to
define traditional educational methods, which bring a formalistic, bureaucratic
teaching that alienates the student just as the worker is alienated in the
production line, banking education is still the main challenge of pedagogical
science. From chalkboards and paddle boards to distance learning and 3D simulated
models, little has changed in the teacher-student dynamic in most classrooms,
whether primary or postgraduate, since Freire began developing his theory. What
can we do and how can we use the resources currently available so that
education can have its liberating potential? This
work aims to discuss how active teaching methodologies, with few modifications,
can develop citizenship and human rights in the classroom based on the content
taught by teachers. To achieve this, however, it is necessary to move away from
the pressures of neoliberal capital from large teaching conglomerates, which
would make it possible to develop a healthy learning environment in the
classroom for both teachers and students and this is the main challenge in starting
this process.

gadgets. In this study, the quantitative method approach was applied and data
was collected from 165 teachers and head teachers of SEF Assisted Schools of
District Larkana by using an adopted close-ended questionnaire. The reliability
of the questionnaire was determined through the Cronbach Alpha technique and
that was 0.8. The data was analyzed through relevant statistical formulas as;
frequency, percentage, simple mean and standard deviation etc. The main
findings of the study were; participants rated themselves that they had
sufficient knowledge and skills to use Computer/Tablet PC in teaching &
learning; most of them believed that the use of computer and related technologies
in the teaching & learning is as important as textbooks for students; ICT
has transformed their teaching effective in preparing resource material for
lesson planning & classroom activities; The raters were of the view that
integration of ICT in education is very essential and productive in 21st
century whereas the traditional teaching style is not suitable in teaching
school students. Hence the teachers’ perception pointed out that there is

OBJECTIVE FOR SCIENCES SUBJECT AT SECONDARY SCHOOL LEVEL: A CASE STUDY OF SINDH
Abdul Jabbar Dahri
Dr Rizwana Muneer
ABSTRACT
The purpose of
this mixed method study was to assess and examine the objectives of Bloom's
taxonomy, its usage and importance at secondary level while teaching the
sciences subject in the Sindh. One
questionnaire and an interview protocol were used to collect the data through
stratified random sampling technique for this study. The qualitative findings
highlighted that teacher teaches science subjects and apply exam-oriented
strategy without touching the Bloom's taxonomy's application. The findings of
the study also revealed that teachers did not enjoy while teaching the sciences
subject in the classroom learning. Majority of teacher teaches science subjects
in traditional way. They do not apply student-centered and motivational
techniques and appropriate assessment mechanism while teaching sciences
subject. The researcher strongly recommended applications of Bloom's taxonomy
and its objectives are necessary for science teachers at secondary level to
teach science subject effectively in order to develop the students' concepts
rather than make them able to choose rote method of learning. Moreover, it is
also recommended that teachers should develop their interest in science
subjects and apply latest teaching methodology while teaching science. The
administration, teaching training institutes and head masters should strictly
monitor them that at what extent they successfully use the Bloom's application
in the classroom learning.

ABSTRACT
Tthe influences which motivate or bound the inventive use of ICT by
teacher educators. She concluded that teachers are the key sources for the
integration of ICT. The lack interest of the management of teacher training
institutes towards the use of ICT within the curriculum. Most of information
communication technology (ICT) teachers couldn’t get success to develop
information communication technology (ICT) skills in student after the
completion of course and they are not able to change their pedagogy by teaching
traditional method. This research is focusing on ‘project based learning which
was twofold. First, interest is improving teaching skills. Secondly, develop
information communication technology (ICT) skills in students. In this study,
It is investigated that how the project based teaching improves teaching skills
and develop information communication technology (ICT) skills in students of
M.Ed. Through purposive sampling 45 students of M. Ed selected as a sample.
Observations and structured interviews were used to analyze the data. This
study concluded that Project based approach through web 2.0 tool develops ICT
skills among students and helps teacher to design student centered activities.
For developing 21st century skills among students teacher should
aware of project based learning at higher level. Workshops of web 2.0 tools and
awareness session should be conducted quarterly for teachers. A complete
follow-up should be ensured by management. In 21st century an
educator must know about project based learning it promotes students centered
culture.

Abstract
Education is a
driving force for economic, social and intellectual development. The Government
of Pakistan has always given high priority to education. The 1973 Constitution
of Pakistan highly emphases on the provision of free and compulsory education
for all masses of the country. The
Government has also shown its
commitment for the promotion of education at international level. The evidence
of Government’s obligations can be seen in international protocols where
Pakistan is one of the signatory of Education for All (EFA) goals, Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In these
conventions and protocols, Pakistan has committed to improve the access of
basic education, to minimize gender disparities and to enhance students’
performance in schools. For improving the access of education, thousands of
schools have been established in the country. In spite of all these steps, the
country is still suffering due to poor quality of education in government
schools. For the improvement of quality
education, provincial department of education have taken several steps in
curriculum improvement and teachers and management professional development.
Apart from all these initiatives the overall students’ performance is
questionable. The performance of girls
in primary schools is not satisfactory. The Standardized Achievement Test (SAT)
results and ASER data in the province of Sindh clearly show a dismal picture
about girls’ performance in rural Sindh. The recent results shows that in Sukkur
District the students score in
Science was reported to be 20.37%,
Languages 28.79% and in Mathematics 18.73%.
In spite of passing class V examination, students hardly read and write
a sentence in their mother tongue. Neither students can execute basic
mathematical operations. As a whole their reading ability and basic numeracy
skills are very poor. Teachers who teach these students in class VI always
complain about the poor performance of girls.
This study aims to find out the reasons of their poor performance in
basic reading and numeracy skills. The population of the study includes girls’
students studying in class IV and V. The nature of study is qualitative and
explorative. Data were collected through focus group discussions. For this
purpose, ten girls’ primary schools (5 from Rohri and 5 from Saleh Pat)
talukas(Subdivision) of District Sukkur were purposely selected. The data was analyzed through ‘constant
comparative analysis’ approach. Students’ responses suggests that teachers come
in classrooms without preparation. They only depend on textbooks. Use of
teaching resources is very rare in primary schools. Teachers always teacher
selective topics from language (Urdu/ Sindhi) and Mathematics. Students
occasionally ask to solve problems. The study recommends to gauge teachers’
content knowledge in Languages and Mathematics by conducting their subject
knowledge test. The study also recommend to conduct teachers training in
languages (Sindhi/ Urdu) and Mathematics. The focus of these trainings should
be improvement of teachers’ content, pedagogical and assessment skills.

Abstract
This study
aimed to investigate the attitudes of secondary school teachers towards
inclusive education in underdeveloped countries, with a focus on Pakistan. A
survey was conducted with 200 teachers from various secondary schools in Sindh
further limited to Karachi District, and the data was analyzed using
descriptive and inferential statistics, The collected data was subjected to a
rigorous analysis, encompassing both descriptive and inferential statistical
methods. Descriptive statistics, such as frequency distributions, were employed
to provide a comprehensive overview of the responses. Additionally, inferential
statistics, including t-tests and analysis of variance (ANOVA), were utilized
to discern any statistically significant differences in attitudes among
subgroups of teachers.
The findings
revealed that overall, the teachers held positive attitudes towards inclusive
education, but there were significant differences in attitudes based on factors
such as gender, teaching experience, and training in inclusive education. The
study concludes that there is a need for further training and support for
teachers to promote more inclusive practices in secondary schools in
underdeveloped countries. These findings have important implications for policy
and practice in the field of education in underdeveloped countries. The data
analysis provides valuable insights into the attitudes of teachers towards
inclusive education and helps identify areas where targeted interventions can
be made to improve inclusive practices.

ABSTRACT
The age of
Gen-Z is far more advanced than one might have imagined, and the primary reason
is the massive growth of the internet revolution and the wave of rapid
globalization. This transformation has blurred national borders, bringing the
world and its global citizens closer to each other, facilitating the flow of
information, ideas, and culture. This generation, growing up in this tech-savvy
world, is well-equipped with digital technology and has access to all available
online resources. Students frequently turn to online resources to access
education, yet there is a lack of ethical knowledge on how to use them.
Moreover, the social platforms provided by digital technology to Gen-Z not only
play a role in bringing people and ideas closer but also in spreading
disinformation.Access to communication with random people through these social
networking platforms is witnessing a widespread degradation of societies. The
massive use of abusive words, images, comments, and propaganda against
different castes, creeds, nations, and ethnicity is quite common. This changing
social phenomenon is a threat to the near future and is degrading societies.
These conditions are also worse in Pakistan, which includes harmful content and
sectarian hate speech. This problem requires utmost attention and needs to be
addressed. Educational institutions can play a significant role in countering
the misuse of disinformation and preventing hate speech. This research paper is
an attempt to highlight the need and significance of introducing ethical
digital literacy in the education system of Pakistan. The purpose of this
research paper is to emphasize the need for digital literacy in educational
institutions. The target audience of this study are 100 students of Higher
Education institutions of Karachi. These students selected by simple random
sampling. A close ended questionnaire with 05 liker scale has been used to
collect data. Descriptive and inferential analysis has been conducted through
SPSS software. The findings revealed the unethical use of digital media and its
effect on society. The positive impact of digital literacy in Pakistan,
particularly in coping with extremes. This research paper has been contributed

Abstract
This
small-scale case study explores perceptions and practices of teachers about
inclusion of students with special educational needs (SEN) in a private
inclusive school of Karachi. Students with SEN are facing many challenges and
barriers in obtaining their basic right to education. This is possible by
changing teachers’ attitude towards students with SEN and through trainings.
Teacher’s perceptions and practices play a vital role in educating students
with SEN in an inclusive school. Within the qualitative research design, the
data was mainly collected through semistructured interviews, classroom
observations and secondly from document analysis. Furthermore, a thematic
analysis approach was used to make sense of the data and draw conclusions. The
study revealed following themes from the data. 1) teachers’ perceptions about
SEN, 2) teachers’ understanding of IE, 3) teachers’ inclusive practices in
school and challenges they face, and 5) stakeholders’ (A school principal, 2
parents and 2 students with SEN) perceptions. It was observed that inclusion of
students leads to greater confidence and acceptance of diversity in the student
body. As teachers lack special education knowledge it is hard to adopt
different and modified teaching strategies, to develop resource material and
IEP of students with SEN and to motivate parents for their support and to meet
most of the expectations of parents and school in terms of social and academic
skills of students with SEN. The study concluded that government involvement, parents’
interest, ongoing professional development and presence of professional team in
a school is essential for bringing good results from inclusive education and
for fulfilling the commitment to education for all.

Understanding the Status of International Students in Developed
Countries:
Exploring the Theory of
Social Resilience
Ghazala Saleem
Abstract
International
students play a vital role in promoting global collaboration among nations.
They are integral to the broader movement of people across borders, which is a
central component of global integration. However, it's important to note that
while international students facilitate crossnational cooperation, many
destination countries prioritize the entry of highly skilled individuals while
imposing restrictions on lower-skilled workers, asylum seekers, and refugees.
This reflects the ongoing challenge of managing immigration policies in the
face of economic and security considerations. One significant driver of
international migration is the widening income and human security gap between
more developed and less developed countries. In recent years, there has been a
shift in how migrants perceive their social identity, with many choosing to
maintain strong transnational connections rather than completely assimilating
into a new society. Despite temporary disruptions caused by events like the
global economic crisis of 2008 and conflicts in regions such as Syria, Iraq,
Yemen, and Ukraine, these factors continue to hold long-term significance. In
the context of migrant integration, the concept of social resilience has
emerged as a pertinent and contemporary framework. Integration refers to the
multifaceted processes through which migrants seek to attain desired levels of
social, civic, and economic engagement within their host societies. The primary
objective of this research is to assess the applicability of the Social
Resilience theory, particularly concerning international students from
developing countries.

Abstract
Stress is a
pervasive part of student life, with well-established implications for mental
health and behavior. This study examines the intricate relationship between
stress levels and student aggression, aiming to shed light on the consequences
for educational institutions and student support systems. The primary aim of
this research is to unravel the link between stress levels and student
aggression. It seeks to ascertain if heightened stress is linked to increased
aggression and to gain insights into the factors underpinning this
connection.The study employs a mixed-method approach, incorporating
quantitative and qualitative data collection. A representative sample of
students from various educational institutions participated in stress
assessments using validated instruments. In-depth interviews and observations
added qualitative depth to students' experiences in high-stress scenarios. The
research reveals a statistically significant positive correlation between
stress levels and student aggression. Students experiencing elevated stress
exhibit increased aggression in both academic and social contexts. Qualitative
findings underscore the role of stressors, such as academic pressure, personal
challenges, and social stressors, in exacerbating aggression. Coping strategies
and access to support systems are identified as key moderating factors. In
conclusion, this study underscores the detrimental impact of stress on student
aggression. Elevated stress levels are associated with heightened aggression,
which can adversely affect individual students and the overall learning
environment. Effective stress management and robust support systems are
essential for mitigating these negative consequences.

ABSTRACT
In this current
study, the researcher explores the integration of information communication
technology (ICT) in the teacher training program at the pre-service level. The
profession of teaching has become a challenging profession ever in our society
as knowledge expands very rapidly and dynamically, and it wants teachers to
cope with new technologies in their academic activities. Furthermore, ICT can
provide an efficient and effective way for teachers' professional development
during pre-service and in-service teacher training; hence, this integration can
help connect them with the international community. However, it is very
unfortunate that instead of a bulk investment of human and financial resources,
the pre-service teacher training program cannot provide prospective teachers
with the competencies, necessary skills, and job experience to prepare them for
using ICT for the future profession. Similarly, in the current paper, we have
taken the issues and application of ICT that supports the teacher's pre-service
Education for pedagogical skills. Hence, it was concluded that ICT should be
the basic tool when selecting and staffing the teachers in these colleges.
